Formation

Formation and education are essential for those preparing for ministry in the twenty-first century.  The ANCC firmly believes in the fundamental responsibility of the church to ensure that those who are pursuing vocations to the priesthood, diaconate and religious life are properly trained. The process of formation begins with contact with a vocations director.

During this time, a review of professional experience, previous formation, education and training (if any). Letters of recommendation, psychological examinations and criminal background checks are conducted.  After these initial inquiries, if the applicant is accepted, he or she begins a formal studying and formation for orders.

As a Church, the ANCC strives to function in a manner that embraces the people we live with and the times we are in. In the spirit, our seminary formation program, the St. John the Beloved Seminary, takes advantage of the high quality methods of distance education.

Students are able to maintain employment and family life while pursuing their education. Retreats and practicum training are integral parts of the educational process of the formation process and occur yearly.
